Job Description
The Financial Systems Analyst will use their accounting and programming backgrounds to prepare financial reports on sales, revenue, financial statements, and other business activities. In addition, they will be heavily involved with annual activities including audits as well as tax, budget, and variable compensation preparation and reporting. This job reports to the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, provide, and distribute standardized reports including sales and revenue reports, financial statements (trial balance, income statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flows), commissions, and others.
- Prepare and present regular and ad hoc reports for upper management.
- Manage the maintenance and improvement of various reporting systems—using SQL Server, VBA, Excel, web-based reporting, and other technologies as needed—in the following areas:
- Sales and Revenue Analyses and Forecasts.
- Financial reports (Deferrals, Fixed assets, AR/AP reconciliation, etc.).
- Budget and Spending Reports.
- Commission and Payroll Reports.
- Customer Relationship Insight Reports.
- Document existing and new processes used in their work.
- Assist with revisions of inter-company agreements, corporate valuation policies, and price lists.
- Guide cost analysis processes by assisting management with policy and procedure development.
- Assist the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting, including:
- Advising and instructing on specific procedures for correcting errors and entering unusual and/or complex transactions in the financial system (Dynamics GP 2018).
- Conducting internal audit and working with financial auditors, tax preparers, and tax authorities at both the corporate and subsidiary levels.
- Preparing and filing HST, VAT, and similar returns.
Required Skills & Knowledge
Technical Skills
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required.
- CPA, CFA or CA designations are preferred.
- A comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, accruals, deferrals, intercompany and multicurrency transactions is required.
- Expertise in financial statement preparation, consolidated reports, accounts reconciliation, and fixed assets reporting is essential.
- Proficiency in SQL coding, encompassing functions, stored procedures, views, and associated objects, is essential.
- Strong knowledge and practice with SQL Server databases are mandatory.
- Proficiency in VBA coding within MS Access and Excel is essential.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics GP is necessary.
- Knowledge of Power Query is considered advantageous.
- Experience in a SaaS company is given priority.
- Strong mathematical, logical, and problem-solving abilities are crucial.

- Experience with a mature financial accounting system is required; experience with Dynamics GP is preferred.
This role is remote, but occasional presence at the Toronto office may be required.
