What you will be doing
Based in Cencora’s U.S. Policy and Advocacy office in Washington, D.C., the Senior Manager, Federal Government Advocacy will report to the Senior Director, Head of Federal Advocacy. The Senior Manager, Federal Government Advocacy will be responsible for representing Cencora at industry and political events, industry briefings and association and coalition meetings. The role is also responsible for researching, monitoring and preparing briefings on legislative issues relevant to Cencora and the industry. The Senior Manager, Federal Government Advocacy will be responsible for conducting lobbying visits with Congressional and Administration staff, and advocating for Cencora’s U.S. Policy & Advocacy policy priorities. The Senior Manager, Federal Government Advocacy will represent the company at Congressional fundraisers and industry events.
- Monitors, analyzes and prioritizes legislative and regulatory issues impacting Cencora
- Consults with Senior Director, Head of Federal Advocacy and internal colleagues to determine impact on Cencora’s business
- Collaborates with public policy and political programs teams on public policy issues of importance to Cencora
- Maintains and builds contacts and develops impactful relationships with Members of Congress, Congressional staff, Committee staff and other key organizations
- Responsible for the creation and delivery of U.S. Policy and Advocacy presentations
- Contributes to the planning and executing of PAC Annual Retreat for Company’s top donors and other PAC events throughout the year
- Represents Cencora at political meetings
- Conducts Congressional tours at Cencora facilities
- Participates in political fundraisers, introducing Cencora to Members of Congress and staff to help broaden exposure to Cencora
- Acts as representative for Cencora at fundraising events
- Conducts lobbying visits on Capitol Hill and advocates for Cencora’s policy priorities
- Attends hearings and meetings on issues pertinent to Cencora's business objectives; writes reports when necessary; attends industry briefings and Capitol Hill hearings
- Participates in legislative strategy sessions
- Participates in communications for the Cencora Policy Committee
- Maintains and promotes positive and professional working relationships with team members and management and facilitates internal communications
- Complies with all appropriate policies, procedures, safety rules and regulations
- Requires domestic travel up to 35%
- Performs related duties as assigned
What your background should look like
- Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accounting, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of Bachelor's Degree Program
- Requires five (5) to ten (10) years Capitol Hill or government affairs experience with thorough understanding of the federal legislative process and experience with Political Action Committees
- Knowledge of healthcare and/or pharmaceutical/pharmacy issues strongly preferred
- Ability to manage consultants
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to resolve issues quickly and efficiently
- Ability to represent a positive and professional image
