Reporting to the Director Service Development, this role will be responsible to deliver profitable growth, regulatory compliance and operational excellence for the solutions grouped under the “Financial Services” umbrella. We are seeking a dynamic individual to spearhead the development of a new service line within World Courier. This commercial role requires a person who can understands the financial flows involved in pharma logistics, and can execute solutions that help our customers maximise the financial impact of moving their critical health products. There is no blueprint for this position, so creativity and the ability to execute along with a strong understanding of financial solutions are essential. Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience in both the pharma sector and logistics space.
Main responsibility is to work cross-functionally and cross-regionally– and with other Cencora business units – to develop solutions which respond to customers’ current and future requirements, to ultimately drive profitable growth and flawless execution.
This position is categorized as compliance critical and, as such, requires and is assigned specific responsibility for ensuring continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate and regulatory requirements.
This position is available on a hybrid working basis with time split between remote, office based and international travel. Base country location is flexible due to the global scope of this role, but must based in a country within timezones UTC -5 to UTC +2 (i.e. East Coast US EST to Eastern Europe Time EET). The successful candidate must also be located in close proximity to a World Courier office location to ensure connectivity with the team and network.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the profitable growth and operational success of the financial services, including (but not limited to) importer of record, enhanced liability, order to cash and tax optimization.
- Defines the service line strategy in partnership with the Director Service Development and VP Services while keeping clients’ needs at the centre.
- Partners with Finance at different stages of the service development process, to ensure compliance on financial policies as well as best-in-class performance.
- Works with Finance to create efficient solutions to deliver Financial Services solutions.
- Works closely with Finance on budgets and project accounting. Is responsible for financial management to achieve designated targets and to control expenses, as needed.
- Executes the service line strategy, including commercial and operational objectives, success measured by meeting financial and excellence objectives.
- Meets with prospects, leads and clients as required along the multiple stages of the service development cycle
- With the Director Service Development and in close collaboration with Finance, develops partnerships as required to enhance the service line value proposition, building, and maintaining relationships with suppliers and partners to drive value from the interactions for World Courier and our customers.
- Manages the pipeline of service line opportunities, and work with local and global sales teams to ensure that client interactions convey World Courier’s capabilities and commitment.
- Interacts with business development in presenting the company and capabilities, review and decides on potential business opportunities, reviews, and approves proposals, participating in the management of key customer relationships and in closing strategic opportunities, including bid defenses and issue resolution.
- Partners with Pricing to define the right approach to price the offered solutions, maximizing profitability.
- Be aware of competitive offerings and regularly refresh a perspective of World Courier’s differentiators in the market.
- Partners with Legal and Tax functions at the World Courier as well as Enterprise level to ensure designed solutions are policy compliant.
- Ensures offered solutions follow local regulatory affairs, legal requirements, and AB Risk and Compliance policies, creating the required guidelines to ensure operational compliance.
- Working with operations and customer service to drive adherences to these processes across the business.
- Creates a culture of continuous improvement ensuring enhancements and agreed preventive actions are implemented across the network.
- Maintains regular reporting on service KPIs, including commercial, financial, and operational performance.
- Partners with designated human resource representative to ensure compliance with all HR practices.
- Promotes development of their team (if applicable), including professional development, succession planning and training
- Is available out of working hours in the unlikely event that their telephone assistance in case of an emergency / urgent matter is required.
- Flexibility and availability to travel as required.
What your background should look like
- An effective leader, with least six years of directly related and responsible experience
- Understand logistics, clinical trial and 3PL operations and associate finances, preferable in the healthcare sector.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret financial data and develop successful strategies to deal with financial issues that are identified.
- Strong knowledge of financial principles, regulations and best practices
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, logistics, healthcare, or business administration. Master’s degree in business or equivalent is preferable.
- Strategic thinking skills: able to generate ideas and opportunities and turn them into successful results.
- Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, health care administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations.
- Excellent presentation skills and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret industry trends and competitive information and develop strategies and tactics to respond to changes in the marketplace.
- Strong data acumen with the ability to interpret and direct analysis on broad internal and external commercial data to develop action plans based on the key identified trends and performance indicator tracking.
- Ability to perform financial planning and budget preparation tasks, as needed.
- Experienced in building personal collaborations, networks, and teams inside and outside of the organization.
- Ability to work in a matrix organization and with regional and country management, where influencing skills are key.
- Ability to support activities of others, including coaching, training, guiding, developing, and managing.
- Excellent writing, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and data management skills
- Strong customer-service orientation
- Able to adapt to change.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle unexpected problems under pressure.
- Able to represent the company in a variety of internal and external settings.
Desirable:
- Experience working with in pharmaceutical supply chain is highly desirable but not required.
- Experience with appropriate pharmaceutical B2B sales channels
- Experience on sustainable and impact finance, desirable
