What you will be doing

Summary:

"The role is for advanced Level-1 technician with personal growth opportunities. You will be part of global IT Operations. You will gain working exposure with teams from APAC, EMEA and AMER regions, alongside team of subject matter experts. You will be able to learn newest technologies in a structured and process-oriented setup.

Considering these factors this role works on a shift pattern (no night shifts) of 3 or 4 12-hour days a week, every second weekend included. Monday, Thursday, Friday - Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday. "

Reports to Engineering Manager. Individuals in the Infrastructure Engineering role are responsible for executing the strategy set by architecture. They are responsible for designing, building, testing, implementing, maintaining and optimizing the infrastructure and operations (Infrastructure), in accordance with security policies and guidelines. Infrastructure Engineers typically spans server platforms, middleware infrastructure, networking, client technology and storage systems. Additional functions and processes include service and product management, performance and capacity management, patching and version management, and Level 3 operations support. Some individuals in this role design and build the systems operating environment to meet business requirements. They monitor and optimize the performance of operating systems and applications such as Web, Messaging and Collaboration, Unix, Windows, and LAN/WAN. They are also responsible for the design and implementation of the network, telecommunications, desktop and mobility systems. They diagnose system failures and take corrective action in order to ensure continuity of operations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Work Planning

  • May participate in short-term planning efforts with stakeholders and IT groups

  • May provide project time estimates

Business and Technical Requirements

  • Works with team members to understand business needs

  • Develops technical solutions based on the business requirements and functional specifications provided by analysts, architecture, and stakeholders

  • Identifies requirements gaps or issues

  • Determines technical requirements impact on existing architecture, work processes, systems and ongoing support

  • Assists in determining infrastructure systems specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility

Infrastructure Solutions Design/Development

  • Develops/builds and tests solutions or infrastructure solutions to meet business requirement and functional specifications

  • Installs, configures, and tests infrastructure solutions

Implementing Security Requirements

  • Implements solutions for intrusion detection and notification, security auditing, alerting, and response, virus detection and removal, password complexity enforcement, and media protection

  • Maintains existing capabilities, making recommendations and implementing appropriate up to date security technologies

  • Controls privileges and permissions to database users

  • Provides audit trails to detect potential security violations

Infrastructure Testing

  • Creates test plans and performs system tests

  • Validates builds or changes

  • Conducts testing to ensure requirements are met

  • Escalates problems as needed

Deployment

  • Assists in the deployment of new, modified or enhanced infrastructure components or services

Maintenance

  • May perform routine maintenance tasks

Performance Management

  • Ensures performance meets the present and future needs of the business

  • Recommends changes/enhancements for improved systems availability, reliability and performance

  • Analyzes metrics to understand performance and identifies opportunities for continuous improvements

Production Support

  • Performs Level 3 issue assessment and resolution on infrastructure solutions

Policies, Procedures, and Standards

  • Supports systems environment standards

Service Level Agreements (SLA)

  • Is aware of service-level agreement levels

  • Takes steps to meet or exceed requirements

Vendor Management

  • May work with vendors to resolve problems and develop infrastructure solutions

Documentation/User Guides

  • Documents new or modified infrastructure solutions, and test activities/results

  • Ensures all documentation is delivered according to specified guidelines

Research/Evaluation

  • Evaluates future technologies and makes recommendations

Network/Telecommunications Design/Development

  • Maintains local Internet, remote access, VPNs, and connectivity protocols

  • Establishes user profiles, user environments, directories, and security for networks being installed

  • Researches, analyzes and implements software or hardware changes to rectify any issues

What your background should look like

  • Bachelor’s degree in Programming/Systems or Computer Science or other relevant field

  • Or specialized training, certification. Or equivalent work experience

  • Typically requires 3-5 years of related technology work experience

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills

  • Good interpersonal skills; effective team player

  • Good analytical skills with attention to detail
