Conavi Medical’s Novasight Hybrid System enables simultaneous imaging of a patient’s coronary arteries using both intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) technologies.

If you would like to be a part of a talented team that is making a difference in healthcare, we are currently looking for a Senior R&D Engineer (Electronics) to develop or enhance new and current medical devices from concept through to the transfer to manufacturing

In this position, you will:

  • Contribute to the development of R&D concepts and product architecture for medical device or components based on customer requirements defined by the Product Management function
  • Contribute to the development of R&D project plans through the provision of technical expertise on the activities necessary to achieve success
  • Design medical devices or their components (new or modifications to existing) with a focus on advanced or complex design requirements
  • Create or modify device or component prototypes for design testing with a focus on new and complex technologies
  • Develop test plans and conduct bench-level testing to ensure device or component requirements are achieved
  • Prepare written reports on the implemented design and testing
  • Input on verification and validation activities, risk analysis and usability
  • Develop the engineering documentation including drawing packages and the Bill of Materials (BOM) that facilitate the effective transfer of the design to manufacturing
  • Liase with contract design and development companies on technical matters
  • Review and input on work of other development engineers in area of expertise
  • Coach and mentor other development engineers in technical matters especially related to their domain or area of expertise
  • Collaborate with colleagues in manufacturing and quality to support problem resolution and product compliance as required
  • Participate and adhere to health & safety initiatives and requirements

You possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or above engineering degree (electronics, electrical, or similar)
  • Significant electronics and RF design engineering experience in a medical device company
  • Proficient in PCB design (schematic capture, complex board layouts, mixed signal and noise sensitive applications)
  • Experience with high frequency ultrasound systems, analog/digital filter design
  • High level of expertise in applying standards such as IEC60601 (electrical safety, EMC)
  • Systems integration experience (hardware/software imaging products) considered an asset
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, and relevant development tools (Altium Designer, simulation software, MATLAB)
  • Ability to operate in a regulated environment related to the design and manufacture of medical devices
  • Skilled in complex technical problem identification and resolution, attention to detail, clear and concise written and verbal communications, multi-tasking, collaborating with others including outside of function, and coaching others
