As the Senior Manager, Scientific Communications you will support key activities including development of communication strategies and plans, leading and/or contributing to the development of materials. This includes the management of supporting vendors and associated budgets, leading and supporting multiple cross-functional alignment meetings, maintaining and updating the library of key communication resources, and ensuring alignment of processes and deliverables across product programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of publication planning across therapeutic area(s) in collaboration with Senior leaders of Scientific Communications and Training, Biometrics, Research and Development, Operations, Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), Therapeutic area Medical Leads, HEOR, and other appropriate functions.

  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and management of a plan for enhancing the scientific training, and development of training tools for the Field Medical Affairs team.

  • Manage day to day Interactions and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

  • Execute day to day tasks associated with developing internal training materials and related disease specific slide decks, facilitating trainings, including identifying topics, coordinating speakers, and developing materials.

  • Manage the development, review, submission, and communication of publications, including abstracts, posters, and manuscripts internally and externally.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day compliance tracking and documentation of publications, ensuring all publications are entered into the appropriate software.

  • Assist with planning, organizing, and executing meetings, trainings, conferences, and teleconferences related to training and publications.

  • Assist in the development of slide decks, posters, abstracts across all therapeutic areas, and act as point person as necessary through LMR review and implementation.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of all publication plans associated with marketed compounds and liaising with R&D (FIPCUS) for compounds in development.

  • Assist in the development of Real World Evidence generation across therapeutic areas to generate publications as appropriate. Will partner with HEOR leaders to oversee, execute HEOR publications.

  • Act as an internal liaison between the Scientific Training and Publications department with other internal functions.

  • Oversee consultants, medical writers, and medical communications companies to manage writing assignments in accordance with GPP criteria, providing oversight to adhere to timelines.

  • Track the group budget and provide regular updates, develop publications plan status reports, and identifies project development and timeline deviations.

  • Contribute, review, and manage development of Scientific Platforms, Gap Analyses, Lexicons, in collaboration with the Publications team and Medical Leaders.

Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree required (i.e. MD, PhD, PharmD).

  • 4+ years of medical/scientific publications (or related) experience in pharmaceutical industry. Experience in medical communication agency, or academia) will be considered

  • Ability to understand and interpret medical data

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Builds strong relationships with peers and cross functionally with partners

  • Deadline oriented with a “can do” attitude and ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously

  • Strong attention to detail, proactive outlook, ability to follow assignments through to completion

  • Good business judgment, flexibility, and responsiveness to changing requirements and conditions.

  • Ability to prioritize and work independently.

  • Knowledge of clinical/scientific publication structure, content, and quality;

  • Knowledge of scientific publication guidelines and best practices

  • Ability to relate and interact with all levels in a complex organization

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

Our Compensation and Benefits

At Ferring, base salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $103,550 to $188,500 which is the reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount paid may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education and primary work location. Additional compensation for this role will be provided based on competitive annual incentive compensation targets in the form of an annual bonus - payouts are based on individual and company performance.

Benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with a premium differential, inverse to base salary, to be paid by employees, a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, wellness benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full time employees to accrue up to 120 hours in the first four (4) years of employment, and 160 hours in the fifth (5th) year of employment as well as 12 to 13 paid holidays per year.
