Fusion’s clinical portfolio includes: FPI-2265 targeting prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA) for metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer currently in a Phase 2 trial; FPI-1434 targeting insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor currently in a Phase 1 trial; and FPI-2059, a small molecule targeting neurotensin receptor 1 (NTSR1), currently in a Phase 1 trial. In addition to a robust proprietary pipeline, Fusion has a collaboration with AstraZeneca to jointly develop novel targeted alpha therapies (TATs) and combination programs between Fusion’s TATs and AstraZeneca’s DNA Damage Response Inhibitors (DDRis) and immune-oncology agents. Fusion has also entered into a collaboration with Merck to evaluate FPI-1434 in combination with Merck’s KEYTRUDA® (pembrolizumab) in patients with solid tumors expressing IGF-1R. To support Fusion’s growing pipeline of TATs, the company has signed strategic actinium supply agreements with TRIUMF, Niowave, and BWXT Medical.
The Role: Director of Logistics to oversee and optimize the transportation, storage, and distribution of Fusion’s products. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing transportation of radiopharmaceuticals between Fusion site in Hamilton, ON, CDMOs in both Canada and the United States and clinical sites, ensuring seamless logistics operations to support our clinical trials and eventual commercialization efforts. This role will be reporting to VP, Supply Chain & Logistics.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive logistics strategies to ensure efficient and timely transportation of the products, considering their short shelf life and specific handling requirements.
- Manage relationships with courier services to ensure efficient and reliable transportation of time-sensitive materials, coordinating pickups and deliveries to meet tight deadlines.
- Collaborate closely with CDMOs to optimize supply chain processes and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize the route mapping to minimize lead times, reduce costs, and maximize product availability. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance overall logistics efficiency.
- Implement robust contingency plans to address unforeseen events and ensure business continuity.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and quality standards governing the transportation and handling of our products. Stay updated on industry regulations and implement necessary measures to maintain compliance.
- Proactively identify potential risks and challenges within the logistics network and develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions to supply chain operations.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and measure the performance of logistics operations. Generate regular reports and analytics to assess performance against established benchmarks and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Clinical Operations and Regulatory Affairs, to ensure alignment and integration of logistics activities with overall business objectives.
- Provide strong leadership and guidance to the logistics team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning. Mentor and develop team members to build a high-performing logistics organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in logistics management, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. Experience with radiopharmaceuticals is highly desirable.
- Proven track record of successfully managing logistics operations for products with short shelf life and specific handling requirements.
- Experience in managing relationships with external partners, such as CDMOs, carriers, and third-party logistics providers.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and quality standards relevant to the transportation and handling of pharmaceutical products.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Export/import experience is desirable.
This position is based in Hamilton, ON with occasional travel to CDMO facilities as required.
