Fusion Pharmaceuticals, a member of the AstraZeneca Group, is a clinical-stage oncology company focused on developing next-generation radioconjugates (RCs) as precision medicines. Fusion connects alpha particle emitting isotopes to various targeting molecules to selectively deliver the alpha emitting payloads to tumors. Fusion’s clinical portfolio includes: FPI-2265 targeting prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA) for metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer currently in a Phase 2 trial; FPI-1434 targeting insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor currently in a Phase 1 trial; FPI-2059, a small molecule targeting neurotensin receptor 1 (NTSR1), currently in a Phase 1 trial; and FPI-2068, a bispecific IgG-based EGFR-cMET targeted radioconjugate currently in a Phase 1 trial. In addition, Fusion is pursuing combination programs between RCs and DNA Damage Response Inhibitors (DDRis) and immune-oncology agents. Fusion has a fully operational Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliant state-of-the-art radiopharmaceutical manufacturing facility to meet supply demand for Fusion's growing pipeline of RCs.

As the Facilities Technician reporting into the Director of Facilities the position will be responsible for the maintenance of Fusion’s GMP manufacturing and clean room operations. This includes the facility equipment and systems to ensure that a safe and optimal environment is always maintained. In this function, the Junior Facilities Technician will work closely with a cross functional team including the Production team, IT, external contractors, EH&S, McMaster Facilities and Quality Control. The position is responsible for conducting all aspects of facility equipment operation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and emergency repairs and provide support to operations for equipment repairs / maintenance. This position, based in Hamilton, ON, has a requirement to support a 24/7 on call as needed.

Responsibilities and job tasks will include:

  • Understanding of SOP’s, GMP practices coming from a pharmaceutical or food industry is required.
  • Have experience working on mechanical systems, Air compressors, Steam Boilers, RO Water Treatment. HVAC, Valves, Pumps, Exhaust Fans.
  • Assist with building preventative maintenance routine inspections.
  • Inspect eye wash stations and deluge showers for compliance.
  • Office and furniture moves as needed.
  • Minor building repairs i.e. patch, paint, wall mounts etc.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the maintenance shops.
  • Knowledge of tools and tool safety, ESA, building codes and TSSA regulations is ideal.
  • Knowledge and good understanding of BAS and CMMS maintenance systems.
  • Knowledge of fire life systems and fire code compliance is required.
  • Ability to lift 50 LBS.
  • Knowledge of good documentation practices is beneficial.
  • Other duties assigned.

Qualifications

  • Technical diploma in mechanical, HVAC or relevant technical stream combined with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in facilities maintenance within a pharmaceutical, food plant, or similar GMP setting is required.
  • Experience in working in a manufacturing environment internal or external manufacturing.
  • GMP knowledge as related to facility operation, and maintenance.
  • Previous experience working with CMMS and BAS systems.
  • Knowledge of Ontario building, electrical, ESA, TSSA and fire codes.
  • Excel working in a collaborative environment as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to take on new tasks and responsibilities as required.
  • Support other team members in ensuring department activities with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with suppliers of equipment, software, and hardware ability to read technical specifications and building drawings with ease.
  • Organized with a proven ability to work independently.
