Job Description

Overview:

The National Growth & Sales Lead – Indigenous Relations identifies opportunities for furthering market sector development and innovative business partnerships to create cross-GBA opportunities with First Nations, Inuit and Metis Organizations in Canada, Tribal Nations in the United States of America, and Indigenous-owned companies to drive new revenue sources and market opportunities.


As a strategic leader with a passion for driving growth and sales, the National Growth & Sales Lead – Indigenous Relations will elevate Arcadis’ market presence, efforts to expand, and build trust in Indigenous communities from coast to coast to coast. The successful candidate is expected to be at the forefront of shaping and executing a national growth strategy, in collaboration with Country Leadership, the Indigenous Relations Lead and the cross-GBA Indigenous Relations SME Team. They will build, lead and inspire a high-performing sales strategy and team, leverage their existing network and key relationships, create and develop limited partnership and holding company opportunities, and drive initiatives that significantly impact Arcadis’ bottom line.

The successful candidate will be responsible for profitable growth and over the next 3-5 years double the size of Indigenous related business. In collaboration with the Indigenous Relations Lead, they will build strategic relationships with Indigenous communities, businesses and Local Governments to support meaningful economic reconciliation opportunities to establish trust in the organization and its work.

This role will report directly to the Country Director, Canada, and will work collaboratively with the Indigenous Relations Lead in support of the Canada Business Area Directors.

Role accountabilities:

  • Accountability of identified sectors and accounts to meet and exceed the Country Sales target, as well as a personal growth target
  • Lead by example with strong external brand and outward focus in sourcing work for all Business Areas
  • Utilizing sophisticated networking capacity to leverage existing client relationships at senior levels and provide thought leadership in the growth area to increase sales
  • Lead sales and inspire Discipline and Practice leads in Indigenous Business innovation
  • Alongside the Indigenous Relations Lead, represent Arcadis at events
  • Contribute to a culture of Indigenization throughout the company

Business Development and New Markets:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy that aligns with the organization’s strategic outlook and innovates towards new markets
  • Working with Leadership, identify key people and practice areas to implement strategic wins
  • Advise the Canadian Leadership team on matters related to innovative new business opportunities

Relationship Building:

  • Foster and maintain strong, respectful relationships with Indigenous communities, leaders, and organizations
  • Develop a strong client network consisting of Indigenous-organizations, communities and nations in Canada and the USA
  • Build network capacity with other leading consulting firms to enable a collaborative business environment dedicated to Call to Action 92 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission

Partnerships, Joint Ventures, and Limited Holding Opportunities:

  • Develop innovative solutions that drive partnerships with Indigenous communities and their business operations
  • Have a significant understanding of the strengths and needs in Indigenous communities to leverage strategic partnerships and support the Arcadis Community First strategy
  • Identify partnership opportunities to leadership and implement them where possible. Collaborate with Indigenous communities to co-create initiatives that address their needs and priorities from Joint Ventures, Equity Ownership, Training and Employment

Program Development:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of programs that support Indigenous inclusion, education, and economic development.
  • Contribute to culturally specific Human Resources programs for skills development for Indigenous Employees

Cultural Competency:

  • Promote awareness and understanding of Indigenous cultures and histories within the organization
  • Contribute to training and development programs to enhance cultural competency among staff

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Contribute to ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and agreements pertaining to Indigenous rights and relations
  • Contribute to reports on Indigenous relations activities and outcomes to the executive team and board
  • Contribute to ensuring the organization's policies and practices are culturally sensitive and aligned with legal and ethical standards regarding Indigenous rights

Collaboration and Networking:

  • Build a strong collaborative network with government agencies, non-profit organizations, and other collaborators to advance Indigenous relations business objectives and to maximize BD efforts
  • Represent the organization at conferences, events, and meetings related to Growth & Sales in Indigenous Relations.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Executive Leadership experience in Indigenous-led Business environments (preference for persons with Chief Executive Officer experience in First Nation owned Business Corporations)
  • 15+ years of experience in Indigenous Business Development and Sales
  • Broad network of existing contacts in Indigenous Business
  • Experience creating and building Indigenous Relations Divisions within large corporate structures
  • Accountability to Executive Leadership
  • Lived-experience or Graduate Level Accreditation

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $175,000 - $215,000 year (depending on years of experience and location).
