Job Details

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer medications (IV, SC, IM) in a specialty clinic, Vancouver location.
  • Assess and monitor infusion and injection treatments as directed by protocols.
  • Complete necessary documentation based on policies and procedures, directions from the College of Nurses, and ISO accreditation standards.
  • Provide patient education based on product monographs and program protocols
  • Report adverse events, serious adverse events, and/or product complaints, in accordance with Innomar policies & procedures
  • Provide reliable availability full time, five 8- hour shifts per week, or four 10-hour shifts per week, the shifts may be within Monday through Saturday, times may be within 730am-8pm, no nights, no Statutory Holidays, no Sundays required.
  • Communicate effectively amongst multi-disciplinary teams i.e. case managers, physicians, pharmacy, scheduling and other departments to meet established timelines
  • Participate regularly in team web-based meetings/training sessions with the Manager, Regional Nurse Educator and Nurse Champion to maintain and enhance professional practice standards.
  • Participate in specialized pharmaceutical related trainings as required.
  • Adhere to professional nursing standards as per your professional associations and Innomar.
  • Follow all nursing and clinic standard operating procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Follow all Health and Safety standards as per the Provincial Health and Safety Act.
  • Complete ongoing and annual education training within the specified timeframes.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Registered Practical Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Experience with IV therapy is an asset
  • Diploma/University degree in nursing or related field
  • Current registration with provincial licensing body; CPR certificate
  • Experience in acute care inpatient/outpatient or homecare setting
  • ACLS, PALs, MS and CVAA Certification, and central venous lines/port experience are considered assets
  • Knowledge of Cell phone for making and confirming appointments/assignments and fax machines.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills in dealing with patients, physicians, and multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Able to work autonomously with little supervision as part of a larger team
  • Able to travel to clinics and homecare appointments within a set geographical boundary

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Cell phone for making and confirming appointment/assignments
  • Flexibility in order to provide services for pre-scheduled and occasional last minute patient appointment requests
  • Effective organizational skills; attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work in both a team and independent setting
  • Able to travel within a geographical boundary
  • Hold and maintain a valid, non-expired, unrestricted driver's license and insurance coverage

The successful candidate may have daily contacts with unilingual English-speaking customers, patients or peers from cross-functional teams.
