Cencora is seeking an experienced and dedicated Director - Privacy Operations to lead and manage the organization's privacy operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in privacy laws and regulations, data protection, and privacy compliance. This role involves daily oversight of all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to the organization’s policies and procedures covering data privacy. The Director - Privacy Operations will work closely with senior leadership, legal, IT, and commercial teams to support the company’s privacy initiatives and protect sensitive information, including personal health data. This key position serves as a senior member of the Privacy team and will be a strategic business partner with aligned key stakeholders.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Partner with the Data Governance and Regulatory leadership in establishing the Cencora privacy program strategy and implementing the privacy program to include the development of policies and procedures that meet regulatory requirements, and changes in market conditions, relevant to countries and business sectors in which Cencora conducts business.
Provide operational oversight and guidance for privacy program strategy, standards, policies, procedures, training, and approvals including but not limited to the identification, implementation, and maintenance of information privacy and ethical data usage.
Work collaboratively with the Information Security Office and other departments to manage the implementation of and completeness of data inventory and mapping efforts across the enterprise.
Responsible for coordination with the Cencora Information Security Office to maintain and implement policies and processes that enable consistent, effective privacy and security practices which minimize risk and ensure the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI), paper and/or electronic, across all media types.
Ensure privacy forms, policies, standards, and procedures are current.
Actively manage Cencora privacy incident reporting and corrective action responses across enterprise in collaboration with commercial and functional partners.
Define metrics, KPIs and KRIs with tracking and reporting capabilities at various levels within the organization.
Oversee day-to-day responsibilities of privacy team members by setting clear expectations, providing ongoing coaching, developing staff and promoting a positive work environment.
Ensure compliance with privacy practices and consistent application of sanctions for failure to comply with privacy policies for all individuals in the organization’s workforce, extended workforce, and for all business associates, in cooperation with Human Resources, the Chief Information Security Officer, administration, the Office of Compliance, and legal counsel as appropriate.
Support Cencora responses to regulators and other governing authorities.
Participate in ongoing compliance monitoring of trading partners, Data Processing Agreements, Business Associate Agreements, and Cencora products/service offerings to ensure all privacy concerns, requirements, and responsibilities are addressed.
Oversee and provide direction to privacy team on the development of privacy training & awareness collateral, in coordination with information security and training, to promote a Privacy by Design culture and awareness within the organization and related entities.
Monitor and report on escalated compliance/non-compliance of initial and ongoing privacy training initiatives across the enterprise.
Serve as an advocate to advance business enablement by fostering cooperation and consistency of efforts across the Office of Privacy and Cencora business functions and entities.
Stay current with potential changes in external requirements including regulatory requirements, privacy controls frameworks, and industry best practices to update and improve the privacy program.
Perform related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
BA or BS in Business or related field.
Minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible and directly related experience in privacy compliance matters, with a focus which includes technology transactions and Information Security/Data Protection.
Demonstrated experience working with multi-national and/or global clients and providing guidance, advice, and counseling in multiple jurisdictions.
Solid working knowledge of and experience in federal/state/international and industry privacy laws and regulations.
Law Degree and/or certification as a privacy professional (IAPP, etc.) are strongly preferred.
MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated strategic planning and leadership skills; ability to motivate and influence company associates at all levels across the organization to comply with regulatory standards.
Excellent analytical, problem solving and negotiating skills.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees and Business Unit representatives.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently in pressure situations and demonstrate a high level of flexibility in a rapidly changing environment while handling complex assignments simultaneously and meeting critical and short deadlines.
Ability to work independently with strong, strategic planning and organizational skills; self-motivated and directed, adaptable, team focused and detail oriented.
Strong knowledge of project management techniques, best practice reengineering knowledge and experience for compliance processes.
Demonstrated success in meeting Business Unit requirements in a fast paced, multi-faceted, highly regulated and diverse environment.
Demonstrated experience in writing, communication and presentation skills.
Personal computer skills to include competency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and preferably Smart Sheet and OneTrust.
Must be client focused with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with all stakeholders in an in house environment.
Comfortable working in a matrix organization with tolerance for ambiguity.
