SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Vice President, Global Category Management, the Senior Director - Indirect Procurement Category Management is responsible for managing a team of category managers that develops and champions category sourcing strategies and executes relationships with third party suppliers in alignment with business stakeholders’ priorities. This role is responsible for identifying value through the execution of category strategies for an assigned book of business of $300-500M in indirect spend.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates with Category Managers to support the development and execution of category strategies, and the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and cost savings
Fosters deep stakeholder relationships by connecting Category Managers to internal stakeholders and providing regular updates to senior leadership on category performance and initiatives
Provides oversight of the specific indirect spend category to Category Managers, ensuring effective management and alignment with organizational objectives
Provides guidance to category managers on the negotiation of contracts, establishment of sourcing relationships and management of associate-related programs.
Guides the comprehensive analysis of category performance metrics, leveraging data-driven insights to identify strategic opportunities and drive continuous improvement
Develops the annual category plan and budget for the specific category, aligning with organizational goals and priorities
Supports development of the five-year strategy and long-range plan including achievement of goals
Supports corporate initiatives and M&A projects, including due diligence, identification of synergies, and post-acquisition integration
Conducts meetings with Category Managers regularly to discuss progress, address challenges, and foster collaboration across category management functions
Evaluates the performance of Category Managers periodically, providing constructive feedback and support for professional development
Maintains a comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of market trends, emerging technologies, and vendor capabilities within the category to inform strategic decision-making
Engages with internal stakeholders regularly to provide updates on category performance, collaborate on sourcing strategies and initiatives, and solicit feedback for improvement
Reviews and update category management policies and procedures to ensure alignment with industry best practices, sustainability, and organizational requirements
Identifies opportunities for cost savings and process improvement, driving innovation, efficiency, and effectiveness in procurement operations
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires relatable professional experience in indirect procurement categories as well as working within a matrixed stakeholder environment. Educational requirements include a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in either supply chain management, business administration or finance. A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience supervising, coaching, and leading a team.
MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Strong understanding of indirect procurement metrics, trends, and methodologies
Strong ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to communicate with vendor partners, internal customers, associates and senior management
Outstanding collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to drive cross functional input on key decisions and influence stakeholders to make decisions that maximize organization versus departmental benefits
Thorough knowledge and understanding of business principles, processes and technology
Strong analytical skills
Outstanding critical thinking skills to evaluate business problems and apply knowledge to identify appropriate solutions and prioritization
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of computers to operative effectively with PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Outlook
Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to effectively manage multiple projects of various diverse scope in a cross-functional environment
Experience in managing contract development and compliance
Demonstrated ability to design and implement processes that achieve business objectives, operational efficiency, and internal control effectiveness
Outstanding leadership and execution skills; proven history of delivering quality results
Willing to travel both domestically and internationally, as required
