What you will be doing
Under directive of the SVP MWI Production Animal, the Senior Director of Technical Services is responsible for overseeing all operations within the MWI Production Animal business related to technical services. This includes, Feed additives, Entomology services, Water Treatment, Nutritional relationships. The position requires the individual to be highly motivated, organized and accountable, along with possessing strong interpersonal skills, presentation skills, and a desire to lead and serve as a change agent to the industry. As a management position, the role also requires that an emphasis be put on managing and developing the technical service team.
This position is based in Amarillo, Texas.
- Manage the Feed Additive team and oversee the following areas:
- MFA pricing and price maintenance
- Feed ration changes and MWS technical services
- FDA regulatory responsibilities
- Responsible for management and growth of the Entomology services division
- Develop a business plan and to provide direction to expand constative services of team
- Develop a business plan and to provide direction to expand diary entomology control
- Work with sales teams to enhance customer opportunities
- Responsible for management of Water Technical services
- Interaction with sales and support teams
- Develop and provide the documentation and analysis of the value of water treatment to customers
- Deliver technical training to key stakeholders, including customers
- Maintain a strong understanding and knowledge base of the livestock industry to expand product portfolio of feed additives and pharmaceutical products.
- Understand customer needs and provide feedback to the organization on product performance, program effectiveness, and competitive activity
- Identify the specific needs of target segments and to work in conjunction with sales and IT (technology) teams to create effective solutions
- Market intelligence on competitive products, solutions and offerings
- Contribute to developing marketing and business strategy in conjunction with the MWI Production Animal Leadership team
- Mentors, coaches, develops and evaluates directors in his/her reporting relationship
What your background should look like
- This position requires a minimum of a Masters’ degree in Ruminant Nutrition or Veterinary medicine
- A minimum of 5 years experience in the livestock animal health industry
- Strong managerial & communication skills.
- Ability to organize / communicate a team approach to understand goals and execute on plan
- Broad knowledge of animal health and feed additive products for livestock
- Statistical analysis experience is preferred
- Up to 30% travel will be required
- Thorough knowledge of the animal health industry
- Thorough knowledge of MWI products, programs, technology, and services
- Working knowledge of sales management, key account management, sales planning and goal setting, successful strategic and consultative selling techniques, and related information
- Ability to direct activities of others, including coaching, training, guiding, developing, and managing
- Ability to interpret industry trends and competitive information and develop strategies and tactics to respond to changes in the Marketplace
- Recognizes and capitalizes on risk-taking opportunities which have high potential benefits for the company and customer; understands importance of and looks for potential networks and strategic alliances; generates and/or recognizes imaginative solutions, fresh ideas and new areas to explore; brings a unique and flexible viewpoint to the planning and decision-making process
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to develop and maintain cooperative working and business relationships with others
- Working knowledge of computers necessary to operate effectively with company systems and programs
- Masterful understanding of MWI Solutions; ability to apply to individual customer’s needs
