Noa is looking for an ambitious Research Intern who is passionate about translating research to the real world. As an early-stage start-up Noa is a fast-paced environment, and therefore requires an intern who can work effectively while also adapting to the new challenges that arise every day. The intern will quickly work independently, utilizing their previously acquired skills in biological systems, in-vitro models, cell signalling and gene expression. This position will offer exposure to other aspects of pharmaceutical start-ups including business development and intellectual property.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Process samples for assessment of biomarkers using ELISAs, qPCR, or commercially available kits.
  • Maintain mammalian dermal and intestinal cell cultures, including feeding and passaging.
  • Support experiment design, and set-up pre-clinical investigations of therapeutic targets, and mechanism.
  • Analyse data with appropriate statistics and create data summaries and graphs.
  • Present projects at multidisciplinary team meetings, providing updates on progress.
  • Keep spaces clean and maintain lab organization by filling out inventory and actively working on communicating lab needs.
  • Maintain a well-organized lab notebook
  • Create and maintain detailed project documentation in support of regulatory submission, patenting, publications, and commercialization.
  • Organize workload, deadlines, and changing priorities in an action-oriented, dynamic environment

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

At least two previous positions in a wet-lab environment (ie internship, co-op, thesis project, volunteering …etc)

Strong experience in general lab techniques is required. This includes using pipettes, making solutions, working with chemicals, analytical equipment…etc

Strong experience in cellular biology is required. This includes must include mammalian cell culture and aseptic/sterile technique.

The ideal candidate will have excellent record-keeping and time management skills in a collaborative team environment.

Good knowledge of signal transduction pathways, genomics, transcriptomics, inorganic chemistry and biostatistics is an asset.

Strong knowledge of the principles of biological and chemical sciences.

High degree of technical curiosity and ambition to push research forward.

Problem solver and self-motivated with a positive attitude.

Good interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate in this fast-paced environment when problems or miscommunications arise.

Education:

Currently Enrolled Student: Undergraduate or graduate with background in chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, cellular biology, chemical/biomedical engineering, or similar field.

Compensation will be discussed during the interview process and is dependent upon the experience of the applicant.
