Description:
The Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Department of Psychiatry at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre seeking to recruit a Staff Psychiatrist, Consultation-Liaison. The successful candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician-Teacher (or Quality / Educator) and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. Effective start date is July 1, 2022.
The primary focus will be providing consultation-liaison for transitional rehabilitation patients located both at the Humber River Reactivation Centre and Pine Villa and also provide addiction psychiatry and pain psychiatry consultation to patients located at the Bayview site. The incumbent in this position will also join the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry team and and be involved in providing both inpatient and outpatient consultation-liaison as well as general outpatient psychiatric care.
Pine Villa is a 68-bed community transitional model of care for patients who are in the hospital and considered alternate level of care (ALC) patients. It is the first community based transitional facility created in collaboration with community partners Sprint and LOFT to address the increasing number of admitted patients who are not yet ready to return to the community and there is an interprofessional model of care with RPNs, social workers, nurse practitioners, recreation therapists and a family physician on call.
Humber Reactivation Care Centre consists of two 30-bed units with care provided by an outstanding inter-professional team. Each 30-bed unit has a family physician hospitalist and NP attached to the unit working collaboratively to deliver family and person-centred care.
The successful applicant must hold an MD degree, be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario. The position requires an individual who has advanced training in addiction psychiatry and pain psychiatry. The successful candidate must have a track record of excellence in teaching given the frequent presence of learners on the consultation-liaison team.
Compensation will be based on a fee-for-service structure with additional funding through Academic and Educational Trust Funds and/or departmentally sanctioned administrative roles.
