The Department of Medical Imaging, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and the Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI) at University Health Network, Sinai Health and Women's College Hospital invite applications for a full-time faculty clinical position as Radiologist in the Breast Imaging Division. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2025.


The successful candidate will operate across all modalities in the sub-specialty of Breast Imaging, including mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound, MR imaging, and image-guided procedures (predominantly ultrasound, MRI and stereotactic biopsies and pre-operative localizations). In addition to the clinical responsibilities, the successful candidate will participate in day to day supervision and training for residents and clinical fellows. They will participate in Journal clubs, fellow and resident rounds. The breast radiologists work very closely with surgeons and oncologists, and rotate through multidisciplinary and Tumor Board rounds at the 3 hospital sites.


The successful candidate must hold an MD degree or equivalent, must be certified or eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or international equivalent in Diagnostic Radiology, must be eligible for medical licensure with the College of Surgeons and Physicians of Ontario, and have had formal fellowship training in Breast Imaging. Strong clinical skills with experience in all aspects of modern Breast Imaging including MRI/ MRI guided procedures is mandatory. A strong academic background in research and education, along with a focused approach to creative professional activities, will be viewed favorably. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.


The Joint Department of Breast Imaging at Mount Sinai Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, and Women's College Hospital is one of Canada’s largest and leading clinical and research centres. It is affiliated with the University of Toronto and is recognized internationally for excellence in patient care, innovation, research and education. The Division comprises of 10 breast radiologists and 6 clinical fellows rotating through different hospitals. All three hospitals are equipped with state-of-the-art breast imaging technology, including 10 mammography /tomosynthesis units, 11 ultrasound units, and 5 MRI units. We conduct a high volume of diagnostic imaging and screening, including for high-risk populations, at all locations. The Gattuso Rapid Diagnostic Clinic at Princess Margaret Hospital offers comprehensive imaging consultations, complete diagnostic workups including biopsies, same-day pathology results, and clinical consultations for complex cases within the Greater Toronto Area. MRIs are performed on 1.5 and 3 T magnets, with a high volume of staging, high-risk, and diagnostic MRIs, including MRI biopsies conducted five days a week. Contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) and CEM biopsies are performed at Mount Sinai Hospital. Radiologists rotate through all three hospitals during the week.


Compensation will be in the range of the uniform average salary of a Radiologist (in the range of $300,000-450,000) in the Province of Ontario and is based on a fee for service model. The candidate will also have the option of purchasing health and dental insurance through the group practice plan.
