The Rotman Commerce program is offered jointly by the Rotman School of Management and the Faculty of Arts and Science. It is a highly respected, highly competitive program within the business, financial and academic communities. Rotman Commerce serves approximately 2900 in-program undergraduate business students as well as over 13,000 graduates of the Bachelor of Commerce program. It offers its students a rich and rigorous academic program alongside ample opportunities to develop themselves personally and professionally.

The Rotman Commerce Centre for Professional Skills (CPS) is a unit within Rotman Commerce with the mandate of supporting Rotman Commerce students in developing a core suite of professional skills via cumulative curricular and co-curricular touch points throughout their degree (e.g. communication, teamwork, self-development, intercultural, and technical skills). CPS works with faculty and staff to build programs that target the development of these professional skills and embeds them in courses and co-curricular activities.

As the Educational Developer, Professional Skills, you will support the development and implementation of instructional programs focusing on professional competencies (e.g. teamwork skills, intercultural competencies, and communication skills, among others). You will provide curriculum-design expertise with a scholarly and evidence-based approach to improve the learning experience of RC students and the teaching experience of RC instructors, as well as co-curricular staff. You will bring a strong understanding ofpedagogical literature and stay informed about developments in the SoTL field. You will conduct research on educational trends and best practices to teach professional skills. And you will work collaboratively with faculty and staff to develop and implement curricular and co-curricular programming designed to build the professional skills of Rotman Commerce students.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing components of instructional programs
  • Developing instructional design plans for use in teaching contexts involving educational technologies
  • Conducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform program planning activities
  • Evaluating learning outcomes forprogram development
  • Advising instructors on strategies for developing and delivering curriculum
  • Advising others on the development and evaluation of course and training materials
  • Fostering and maintaining networks to build capacity and collaboration
  • Analyzing internal and external trends and recommending educational programming improvements related to teaching and learning

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Education,or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in educational development or related field, including a minimum of two (2) years in post-secondary education
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in university-level instruction, program planning, facilitation, consultation, curriculum development, and faculty development
  • Demonstrated engagement in the scholarship of teaching and learning (through publications, presentations or equivalent)
  • Applied knowledge of online educational tools, demonstrated expertise in educational pedagogy, including experience in pedagogical principles, delivery and evaluation of online learning is required
  • Demonstrated experience in working with faculty and and staff to develop curricular and co-curricular content
  • Demonstrated experience developing assessment and evaluation frameworks for curricular programs
  • Demonstrated experience with research and analytical skills
  • Good working knowledge of Quercus or similar learning management systems
  • Strong ability to support the innovative use of instructional technologies for teaching, learning and research
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills; proven project management skills
  • Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to work well under pressure, both individually and as a team member
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines
  • Demonstrated initiative, innovation, and project completion skills
