Course Description: This course engages with feminist theoretical models and approaches to examine the ways in which the “body” has been constructed, enacted, and embodied through aesthetic forms like photography, cinema, music, performance, film and to understand how women, queer, and racialized artists use aesthetics as a response to social and political crises. This course considers what constitutes the relationship between the political and the aesthetic and approaches aesthetics as important sites of ideological and political tension. (24L)

Qualifications: Applicants will have a Masters or Ph.D. in Gender, Feminist and/or Sexuality Studies or a closely related discipline. A Ph.D. degree in Gender, Feminist or Sexuality Studies is preferred. Mastery/competency in the subject area, as related to the course description, is required. Previous experience teaching a similar course is desirable.

Description of Duties: Preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; dealing with student inquires; calculation and submission of grades (including any grading or submission of grades not completed by the end of session: December 31, 2024 for the F session and April 30, 2025 for the S); holding regular office hours; supervising TAs (if any) assigned to the course.
