Symbolization, natural deduction, and models in monadic predicate logic. Symbolization and natural deduction with polyadic predicates. Introduction to advanced concepts in first-order logic, such as operations, identity, and models.

The following position for a Sessional Lecturer is available in the Department of Philosophy for the Fall 2024 academic session. This is an emergency posting in accordance with the Collective Agreement between The Governing Council of the University of Toronto and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 3902 Unit 3. Please note that the position below is tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolments. Salary:
$9,457.90 (Sessional Lecturer1) includes 4% vacation pay
$9,930.79 (Sessional Lecturer 1 – Long Term) includes 6% vacation pay
$10,121.77 (Sessional Lecturer 2) includes 6% vacation pay
$10,326.62 (Sessional Lecturer 2 – Long Term) includes 6% vacation pay
$10,362.76 (Sessional Lecturer 3) includes 6% vacation pay
$10,570.02 (Sessional Lecturer 3 – Long Term) includes 6% vacation pay
Should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Tutorial Schedule: In-Person; Wednesday 9 - 10 a.m. & Friday 10 - 11 a.m.

Qualifications:
- PhD in-hand
- Prior experience as a tutorial leader, or course instructor, preferably in Philosophy at U of T
- Advanced prior knowledge of the subject-matter of the course and topic-related teaching experience
- Related research and a record of research achievement is considered an asset to this position
Duties and responsibilities: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.
Please note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
