The Vice Dean Undergraduate Office supports and administers the undergraduate student experience in the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering. This includes the co-curricular and extracurricular facets of student life as well as aspects of the academic learning experience in collaboration with faculty, staff, and partners across the University.

Your opportunity:

Under the direction of the Vice Dean, Undergraduate and Associate Director, Teaching, Learning & Student Experience, the Experiential Learning Coordinator, Undergraduate Research & Global Opportunities is responsible for advancing experiential learning pathways within the Faculty, with an emphasis on undergraduate research and global opportunities. They will work to increase awareness of and engagement in experiential learning, and reduce barriers to participation by streamlining and clarifying processes. To achieve these goals, the incumbent works collaboratively with a wide variety of partners, including students, staff and faculty members within the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, internal U of T partners (e.g. Centre for International Experience), as well as other Universities. Core activities include facilitating and coordinating events, programs, and workshops; overseeing research awards processes; tracking and reporting data related to experiential learning; supporting the Co-Curricular Record and select co-curricular initiatives more broadly; and meeting with students, staff and faculty to provide guidance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities
  • Implementing plans and process improvements for program and service activities
  • Conducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform program planning activities
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance within and external to the University
  • Researching and recommending new opportunities for external collaborations and partnerships
  • Advising and coaching students on co-curricular goal-setting
  • Developing strategies that maximize outreach to students

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years experience in experiential education or student services, with an emphasis on project and program development, implementation, and assessment, preferably within a post secondary setting.
  • Experience developing and / or coordinating experiential learning programs, working in undergraduate student learning and development, student activities / student life, or a university teaching environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to comfortably and professionally build and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders within and exterior to the University, including faculty, students, academic leaders, and administrative staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information from multiple sources and provide recommendations.
  • Experience providing administrative support to established processes.
  • Experience coordinating events and supporting committees.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and explain complex policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively set priorities, identify problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office 365 Suite including Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Knowledge of the University of Toronto and the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering
  • Experience within an academic department or faculty in a scientific or engineering discipline
  • Previous experience working in post-secondary education
