The successful applicant must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment as a Clinician in Quality and Innovation or Clinician Teacher at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor within the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto. The effective start date will be November 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter.

A physician with excellent critical thinking and communications skills is being sought to support the SH IPAC Department, while advancing knowledge acquisition and clinical care in infectious diseases (ID) in the University of Toronto, Division of Infectious Diseases. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience and/or specialized training in IPAC, including implementation and quality improvement training or experience.

The IPAC Physician will work closely with the SH Medical Director of IPAC and other members of the IPAC Department, SH leadership and clinical teams. In addition to this, the IPAC Physician will participate in teaching, research and quality improvement projects as appropriate and will provide inpatient and outpatient General ID consultation at the UHN and SH. The IPAC Physician will dually report to the SH Medical Director of IPAC and the Division Head of ID at UHN/SH for their IPAC and clinical roles respectively. The successful candidate will be based at Sinai Health – Mount Sinai Hospital (600 University Avenue, Toronto ON) and will cover ID at the Toronto General Hospital (200 Elizabeth Street, Toronto ON) and other UHN sites such as Toronto Western Hospital (399 Bathurst Street, Toronto ON). The candidate must be able to communicate proficiently in English.

For the successful candidate, compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, and will be competitive with the usual income range for an academic ID clinician in the province of Ontario, with a compensation no less than $255,000 per year, which is partially determined by fee for service. The IPAC Physician will be eligible to participate in the UHN-SH Department of Medicine Practice Plan. A health benefits package is available through the Practice Plan.
