The Office of Assessment and Evaluation supports the MD Program with all aspects of student assessment as well as course and program evaluation. The Office provides expertise in data management, psychometrics, both quantitative and qualitative research, and consults on program-related assessment and evaluation activities with course directors, curriculum leadership, and stakeholders within the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, across the University and at partner institutions involved in medical education.

As Manager, Assessment and Evaluation, you will provide managerial oversight and subject matter expertise to the Office of Assessment and Evaluation (OAE) in the MD Program and work under the guidance of faculty leaders, the Director of Student Assessment and the Director of Program Evaluation. As a member of the MD Program’s senior management team, you will contribute to the development of strategic priorities, including the planning and implementation of technology systems and a department-wide student assessment and program evaluation data framework. Additionally, you will contribute to specific program objectives and to the budget process.

As a leader and mentor, you will manage a staff of high-caliber professionals and assume overall responsibility for human resources and labour relations including dispute resolution and compliance of collective agreements. Lastly, you will play a leadership role in the Assessment and Evaluation planning processes and provide strategic operational and project management support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of senior administrative experience working in a University or healthcare setting
  • Experience in people management, preferably in a unionized environment
  • Experience in higher education-based assessment and evaluation practices
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with data analysis, project management and business process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience managing projects and leading successful change
  • Experience in strategic planning, including development and implementation
  • Ability to analyze data and identifying meaningful trends and results
  • Strong financial acumen, including financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting experience
  • Advanced experience with MS Office Programs. Excel is required, including the ability to work with pivot tables, formulas, relational tables, and Macros.
  • Demonstrated experience with learning management systems, content management systems and evaluation platforms.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Advanced consulting skills, with the ability to work across the organization to influence decisions for a positive outcome
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative and resourcefulness, including the ability to manage deadlines and prioritize work
  • Ability to train, coach, and motivate staff to work collaboratively toward the goals of the office
  • Ability to solve problems in a strategic and tactical manner; strong conflict management skills
  • Superior oral, and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated strategic, organization and planning skills
  • Proven commitment to equity, diversity and inclusivity

Assets:

  • Experience overseeing the implementation and maintenance of customized learning management systems and content management systems
  • Working knowledge of Tableau, PowerBI and other reporting tools
  • Understanding of the MD Program and its curriculum, assessment and evaluation practices
