STA201H1F L0101 – Why Numbers Matter

This course teaches non-science students the importance of quantitative reasoning to many different areas. It explores a variety of applications to such diverse subjects as economics, gambling, politics, poetry, graphics, music, medicine, demographics, sports, secret codes, and more, using only basic high school level mathematics combined with logical thinking.

$9,457.90 for Sessional Lecturer I;

$9,930.79 for Sessional Lecturer I Long Term;

$10,121.77 for Sessional Lecturer II;

$10,326.62 for Sessional Lecturer II Long Term;

$10,362.76 for Sessional Lecturer III

$10,570.02 for Sessional Lecturer III Long Term

(Rates are pro-rated to FCE)

Qualifications: Minimum Master's degree required, PhD preferred in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Actuarial Science, Biostatistics or related discipline. Prior experience teaching at the university level. Prior experience teaching STA201 or a similar course is an asset. Applicants may be asked to supply references.

Description of duties: Preparation and delivery of lectures in this course. Preparation, supervision and grading of assignments, tests, and final examinations in accordance with the university regulations; reporting final grades; counseling students on academic matters;supervising teaching assistant(s).
