Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Information Technology Services, you will be part of a dynamic, collaborative, and innovative team focused on delivering transformational technology solutions to the School. You will be directly engaged in the support, improvement, and implementation of SCS Student Information System (SIS) and University Datamart, as well as associated integration and configuration with Financial System (SAP), LMS (Quercus/Canvas) and Micro Credential Issuance Platform (BCDiploma).

As part of the support team, you will work with end users and stakeholders responding to requests for new feature implementation or day to day management assistance with our student information systems and related solutions. You will engage with vendors, stakeholders from SCS and UofT central services and other faculties in the resolution of user and system requirements and issues. You will participate in the development, maintenance, and delivery of system and user materials, training, and presentations.

This role is currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to University policies and guidelines, including but not limited to the University of Toronto’s Alternative Work Arrangements Guideline.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and developing technical solutions for systems improvements
  • Responding to service requests in a timely fashion
  • Troubleshooting issues uncovered by testing or user feedback
  • Analyzing and documenting business requirements
  • Liaising with vendors to coordinate services and resolve issues
  • Advising on cost, feasibility and impact of different implementation solutions
  • Drafting and editing training content
  • Training end-users on procedures and the best use of supported IT systems

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years recent IT working experience supporting, configuring and troubleshooting continuing education or post secondary student information systems applications (e.g. Destiny One).
  • Experience developing and updating architectural frameworks for large enterprise systems that manage learner/student data, course catalog structures, enrolment data; monitoring and modify existing programs to improve reporting; Experience ensuring compliance with established laws (i.e. AODA), codes, rules and regulations; experience integrating new software with existing IT systems including financial systems such as SAP.
  • Experience working with and an excellent understanding of student data, course catalogs, enrolment processes/data and related financial transactional data preferably in an open enrollment environment.
  • Demonstrated IT experience supporting users of business applications, including experience with creating user documentation and performing user training.
  • Experience with ITSM and helpdesk systems (e.g., ServiceNow) and with ITSSM principles and standards.
  • Experience planning and implementing components of IT related projects in a team environment. Experience developing project schedules, including milestones, critical path timelines, deliverables and reporting.
  • Experience planning and estimating financial resources required for programs and/or projects.
  • Experience preparing detailed analysis on complex IT risk assessments; Experience with mission critical technology components with disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Knowledge of security controls including tenant isolation, encryption, key management, vulnerability assessments, firewalls, SIEM, etc.
  • Demonstrated superior client service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Strong communication and people skills and the ability to work with users at all levels, with an emphasis on customer service
  • Proven commitment, understanding and interest in current and emerging technologies demonstrated through training, job experience, and/or industry activities
  • Experience working independently or without significant direction on a daily basis.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work on and execute multiple tasks with competing deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
