Under the general direction of the Chair, the Communications & Marketing Officer will be advising on marketing best practices and brand-building opportunities, delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives, fostering and maintaining positive relationships with targeted social media communities, and promoting alumni engagement opportunities to academic units, graduating students, industry partners and alumni.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing marketing plans to promote programs, events and/or initiatives that support strategic objectives
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Promoting programs and service offerings to internal and/or external contacts
  • Producing promotional and outreach materials
  • Advising on strategies to align websites with marketing/communication objectives
  • Developing and implementing alumni engagement activities that support strategic objectives
  • Researching and writing nominations for various awards
  • Conceptualizing, organizing and executing event activities

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, journalism or other related field, or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum five years recent and relevant experience in developing and executing comprehensive communication and marketing plans
  • Experience planning and developing an integrated multi-channel communications strategy with a relevant portfolio of proven outcomes
  • Experience writing content, developing themes, and maintaining consistent brand identity for multiple audiences and platforms, including print, online, and digital
  • Experience managing an organizational website and social media platforms
  • Experience with conceptualizing, planning stakeholder engagement events (e.g. recruitment events, seminars, workshops)
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and oral communication skills and proficiency in communicating and engaging effectively with a variety of audiences
  • Ability to juggle multiple conflicting priorities
  • Strong computer skills with demonstrated working knowledge of the MS Office Suite, and newsletter and marketing platforms. (e.g. Symplicity, Mailpoet, MailChimp)
  • Strong organizational and project managementskills with the ability implement and manage multiple projects
