Your opportunity:

The Hospitality & Retail Services department oversees several contracted and self-operated services at University of Toronto Mississauga. Reporting to the Manager, Retail Services, the Retail Operations Assistant provides support for Hospitality & Retail Services by delivering of mail and print jobs, by ensuring that all vending machines are operational, by tending to the vertical farm, and by assisting with the operation of other retail services as required.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Distributing incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries
  • Following rules and procedural instructions when determining correct postage rates using a postage meter
  • Setting up and troubleshooting printers
  • Noting conditions of plants and whether they require changes to maintenance schedule
  • Identifying and reporting equipment repair and replacement needs
  • Creating a record of deficiency and operational concerns
  • Ordering supplies within established limits

Essential Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum one year related experience.
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft suite and email.
  • Ability to operate mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30kg and push a cart with loads up to100kg.
  • Ability to walk outside in various weather conditions at least once per day.


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience in support of mail delivery, copy centre operations, and/or vending operations.
  • Customer service experience in a student and/or academic environment.

USW Pay Band 05 -- $52,481. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $67,115. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
