Position Summary:
The University of Toronto is undertaking an ambitious tri-campus mental health strategy to improve services for all students as they undertake their academic and research goals. Located within the Office of Vice Provost Students, the Office of the Senior Executive Director Student Mental Health collaborates with the tri-campus health centres, faculties, divisions, and departments to optimize services, incorporate best practices and build university, hospital and community partnerships to realize an effective stepped-care approach that ensures equitable, culturally competent access to mental health services for all students. Research, evaluation, and measurement-based care are important pillars of this strategy as is engaging and collaborating with students in the co-design of solutions and projects that respond to student feedback and priorities. The Office of the Senior Executive Director is a new initiative of the University established in 2022 and arising from the Presidential and Provosital Task Force on Student Mental Health (2019).
Reporting to the Senior Executive Director the Special Projects Advisor (SPA) supports the planning and implementation of tri-campus mental health projects that enable the goals of the university. The SPA is part of Sr Executive Director’s newly established team and works collaboratively with leaders, colleagues and stakeholders across the three University campuses, as well as with external partners.
Qualification Required:
Education:
- University degree required; or equivalent in education and experience.
- Training and orientation in the principles of project management and data analytics.
- Project Management certificate.
Experience:
- Four years of project management or administrative experience in a post-secondary setting and/or healthcare environment.
- Training, education and experience working with electronic medical records and reporting in a healthcare context.
- Proficiency in detailed and extensive literature searches, environmental scans, document and brief preparation inclusive of data analysis to support team projects.
- Experience with preparation of agendas, minutes and document management to support tri-campus initiatives.
Skill:
- Familiarity and comfort with EMR architecture enabling form design, data capture for the purposes of enhanced reporting.
- Highly proficient in computer software skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365 Applications inclusive of SharePoint, MSTeams, Power BI and Excel.
Other:
- Demonstrated experience working in complex environments with cross-functional teams that include internal and external stakeholders inclusive of students, university staff and faculty and community agencies and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of a complex academic environment, specifically with the University of Toronto an asset.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Adaptable, self-directed, results and detail-oriented; comfortable working in a dynamic, highly accountable team environment with multiple projects moving forward simultaneously and able to work both in a team and independently.
- Ability to work with confidential material, fluctuation workload; ability to prioritize and organize work independently, respond to and seek direction appropriately.
- Excellent organizational, collaboration skills and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities/deadlines.
- An interest in the area of mental health and young people and innovative models that improve services for students an asset.
This role is currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to University policies and guidelines, including but not limited to the University of Toronto’s Alternative Work Arrangements Guideline. Travel and work at all three University of Toronto campuses is required.
