The Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Department of Psychiatry of The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), are seeking to recruit an Academic Psychiatrist – Child and Youth Psychiatry Division. The successful candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician Teacher and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor at the University of Toronto. Effective start date is July 01, 2025 or shortly thereafter.


The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canada’s largest mental health teaching hospital and one of the world’s leading research centres in its field. CAMH is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and is a Pan America Health Organization/World Health Organization Collaborating Centre. With a dedicated staff of more than 4,000 physicians, clinicians, researchers, educators and support staff, CAMH offers outstanding clinical care to more than 37,000 patients each year and over 118 inpatient and outpatient clinical programs. The organization conducts ground-breaking research through its 11 research centres and provides expert training to over 13,000 health care professionals and scientists. In addition, CAMH delivers education programs to over 40,000 healthcare professionals each year and advocates on public policy issues at all levels of government. CAMH is seeking a full-time psychiatrist to provide care to child and youth with acute mental illness, including concurrent substance use disorders. Duties include clinical evaluation and treatment of outpatients, generally ages 6-24, and occasionally up to 29 years of age. Inpatient coverage is required at times. The incumbent will be involved in teaching and supervision of medical students, psychiatry residents and fellows.


The successful applicant must hold an MD degree, must be Board certified or Board Eligible in Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Specialty, and must be eligible for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The position requires an individual who has a sub-specialty certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as well as a record of excellence in scholarship. The successful candidate will have a strong record of relevant research accomplishment.


Remuneration is in accordance with the compensation of a psychiatrist in the province of Ontario. Estimated remuneration will be in the range of $250,000 - $300,000 per annum, commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience.
