Reporting to the Supervisor, Sports Programs the incumbent will support students and tri-campus athletes in their physical rehabilitation care during and post competition, implement the department's concussion protocol and refer students to the appropriate services for support following an injury. As part of the recreation team, this role will also work as a compliment to the personal trainers and the high-performance staff. They will also provide support to students who are non tri-campus student athletes i.e. recreational participants.
The incumbent must be able to work variable shifts depending on the program needs and scheduling, which will include evenings and weekend hours.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting athletic therapy assessments in accordance with professional standards
  • Assessing and selecting appropriate therapeutic exercises and modalities
  • Providing on-field triage and support to medical professionals as required
  • Advising coaching staff if practice drills techniques or exercises are deemed to pose any risk of injury
  • Providing manual physical health assessments and treatments in accordance with professional standards
  • Coordinating the schedule for program and event calendars
  • Recommending preventative measures and evaluating risk factors to ensure safety
  • Directing the activities of casual staff

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience in Sports therapy, Kinesiology, sport injury management
  • Minimum two years experience in treating and assessing sport related therapy needs and rehabilitation
  • Experience in developing athletes for competitive play
  • Experience in a post-secondary institution and understanding of sport related regulations
  • Experience in managing athletic therapy requirements for competitive/Varsity sporting events
  • Experience working with diverse groups of people
  • Certified Athletic Therapist C.A.T.
  • Current/Active member Canadian Athletic Therapists Association C.A.T.A.
  • First responder certification, First Aid/CPR-HCP,AED certification
  • Knowledge of ImPACT software and EMR
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including MSWord and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the proven ability to collaborate and participate effectively within a team
  • Ability to exercise initiative, discretion and good judgment and to handle with confidentiality personal member and staff information.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 09 -- $66,715. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $85,319. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
