Your Opportunity:

With a community of over 1,200 faculty, staff, and students doing their part to move health and science forward, the Faculty is keen to attract an exceptional Chief Administrative Officer—someone who is energized by the opportunity to bring strategy and operational expertise to the division, thereby contributing to its meaningful and deeply impactful work.

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is a leader in and advisor to the Faculty, ensuring the Faculty is well positioned to achieve its goals. Reporting to the Dean, and working alongside with the Faculty’s senior administrative leadership team, the CAO provides strategic direction and leadership for the overall revenue generation and business administration activities in the faculty.

The CAO is a multidimensional role, overseeing key functions including Finance, Human Resources, Information & Learning Technology, Facility Operations, Capital and Renovation Project Management, and Risk Management. In partnership with the Dean the CAO is responsible for developing and implementing excellent standards in the Faculty’s core administrative systems.

The CAO will exhibit strong situational leadership, and should be known for promoting inclusivity, social accountability, professionalism, innovation, respect, and collegiality.

Given the Faculty’s size and the wide range of its activities, the CAO is required to have experience working in an environment that is both complex and culturally diverse.

The CAO should possess: an entrepreneurial style; superior interpersonal and communications skills; a sophisticated understanding of budgets and strategic financial planning; in-depth knowledge and/or a strong appreciation for a broad range of administrative and business services; strong project management and negotiation skills; a dedication to mentorship and stimulating professional growth in themselves and others; and the ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities.

The CAO is expected to develop and implement creative ideas and solutions that align with institutional and faculty goals.

The CAO role requires the incumbent to work collaborative and in consultation with key internal and external faculty stakeholders to make decisions that are informed by the needs of the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy’s broader stakeholder community and the University of Toronto and should be inspired to make their mark.
