Description:
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, in collaboration with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Sinai Health and Women’s College Hospital, is actively seeking a dedicated full-time physician with specialized expertise in Urogynecology. This individual will assume an academic position and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the assistant professor, associate professor, or professor rank at the University of Toronto. The primary role will involve playing a crucial part in the training of fellows specializing in Advanced Pelvic Surgery. The anticipated commencement date is July 1st, 2025 or a mutually agreeable alternative.
Sinai Health and Women’s College Hospitals constitute a unified department within Obstetrics and Gynaecology, holding esteemed positions as leaders in Women’s and Infants' Health at both regional and national levels. Mount Sinai Hospital, a fully-affiliated teaching hospital with the University of Toronto, is associated with the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, a globally recognized institution where research in Women’s and Infants’ health is a prominent focus.
The Division of Urogynecology is currently comprised of 4 surgeons, who specialize in treating complex pelvic floor disorders. They serve as a tertiary referral service for women dealing with various conditions, including lower urinary tract symptoms, pelvic organ prolapse, defecatory dysfunction, and pelvic pain. The team maintains robust collaborations with Urology, Colorectal Surgery, and Pelvic Physiotherapy.
The Division is seeking an individual with clinical expertise and skills in the following areas:
- High-quality medical and surgical management of individuals with complex pelvic floor disorders, providing leading-edge diagnostic tools and therapies. Clinical responsibilities will extend to both Mount Sinai Hospital and Women’s College Hospital.
- Participation in a rotational gynecology-only call coverage system, encompassing day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- Contribution to scholarly work within the Division of Urogynecology based on clinical and/or research interests. This may include knowledge translation, patient education, digital platforms, retrospective and/or prospective cohort studies, as well as education and simulation.
- Contribution to the two-year Urogynecology fellowship which is run across Mount Sinai Hospital and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Enthusiastic participation in all levels of our teaching and education mandate is expected, with teaching duties for learners within the department.
Candidates must be licensed, or eligible for an independent or restricted license under the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and for certification with the the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent. The candidate will be a member of the hospital practice plan. Additionally, they should have completed a fellowship in Urogynecology. The successful candidate will hold either clinician teacher or clinician investigator position and embody and promote excellence in professional practices and conduct and be able to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.
Compensation will be in the range of $200,000 - $600,000 and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, based on fee for service income. The position will be placed in the Hospital Department Practice Plan. Applications will be accepted until December 3, 2024 or until the position is filled.
