Your opportunity:
The Institute for Management and Innovation (IMI) houses graduate programs, undergraduate offerings, and a suite of programs and services. The Graduate Programs Manager is part of a strong administrative team that supports IMI's programs and course offerings.
Reporting to the Director, Institute Management and Innovation (IMI), the Graduate Programs Manager is the key liaisonbetween IMI and the School of Graduate Studies. The Graduate Programs Manager coordinates and collaborates across the Institute supporting all of IMI graduate programs including Master of Biotechnology, Master of Forensic Accounting, Master of Management& Innovation, Master of Management & Professional Accounting, Master of Science in Sustainability Management, and Master of Urban Innovation. The incumbent shares information and addresses challenges related to course planning / curriculum, works closelywith all program staff, ensures learning and sharing of knowledge is facilitated across IMI, and acts as point of contact to the Office of the Vice Dean, Graduate and Postgraduate Education.
The incumbent will work closely with the School of Graduate Studies while collaborating across IMI units to share information and advise on policy. Key duties will include: records administration and support, managing the academic calendar, scheduling and exams, oversight of student awards and financial aid,advising on University graduate policies and guidelines, and others.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing registration plans to support admission and enrollment objectives
- Analyzing statistical information to inform enrollment projections and planning
- Keeping well-informed on University programs, policies and procedures
- Planning and implementing components of registrarial projects
- Making informed referrals and supporting an individual in distress until referral contact is made
- Directing the activities of a group of staff-appointed employees all performing a similar function
- Planning and implementing workflow for the unit
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Graduate Degree is preferred.
- Minimum five years of recent and related experience working in student services and program administration liaising with faculty, staff, and students in a University environment.
- Experience in graduate program administration including registration, enrollment, student records, timetables, scholarship / awards administration, and data analysis.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the University of Toronto’s academic policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in graduate program structures, standards, and expectations across the full range of diverse programs within a University environment.
- Experience advising graduate students in an academic setting and presenting to groups on School of Graduate Studies and University policies and procedures.
- Experience providing information and guidance to prospective and/or current graduate students in a Professional Program.
- Experience and expert knowledge of matters related to student registrarial support, for example petitions, appeals and FIPPA.
- Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of leadership, Faculty and administrative staff while taking the initiative to lead on improvements and innovation in support of IMI and its graduate programs.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to exercise patience, discretion, good judgement, tact, diplomacy and confidentiality.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to understand and interpret complex policies and procedures and to analyze petitions qualitative information and data.
- Advanced computerskills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Proficiency using ROSI, Acorn, Slate, Degree Explorer or comparable student information system.
