The Department of Paediatrics at the Hospital for Sick Children in combination with the University of Toronto is recruiting for a permanent full-time Staff Cardiologist with a subspecialty interest in Interventional Cardiology in the Labatt Family Heart Centre - Cardiology Division. The Hospital for Sick Children is an academic health science centre dedicated to the care of children and is a fully affiliated hospital with the University of Toronto. The successful applicant must be eligible for a full-time academic appointment at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor. The effective start date will be May 1, 2025.

The Labatt Family Heart Centre brings together significant interdisciplinary and inter-professional activities within Paediatric Cardiology, Cardiovascular (CV) Surgery, Cardiac Critical Care, Cardiovascular Research and Adult Congenital Heart Disease Programs, thus allowing the Heart Centre to address the needs of patients and families from fetal life through to adulthood. The Heart Centre at The Hospital for Sick Children promotes these activities through seamless integration of research activities, academic performance, and exemplary clinical care.

The primary role of the successful candidate will be to perform cardiac catheterization procedures and oversee periprocedural care. The successful candidate will join an existing cohort of three active interventionalists and a multidisciplinary team based in a unit dedicated to catheterization, invasive electrophysiology, and cardiac MRI. The team includes rotating cardiology trainees as well as a dedicated senior interventional fellow. Responsibilities will include participation in the ambulatory cardiology practice, and a minimal amount of inpatient acute care coverage. This successful applicant would also be expected to conduct academic work, and to pursue non-clinical activity in avenues of potential professional advancement (e.g., research, quality improvement, medical education).

All candidates must be able to function proficiency in English, hold an MD, MBBS or equivalent thereto and be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications. Candidates must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($300,000-$400,000) per annum will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefit package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, academic allowance, and a relocation package.
