Your opportunity:

The Experiential Learning and Outreach Support (ELOS) office in the Faculty of Arts & Science has a mandate to grow quality experiential learning opportunities for Arts & Science students, including work-integrated learning, career-engaged learning, community-engaged learning, research, and international opportunities.

The School of the Environment serves as an interdisciplinary centre for environment and sustainability education, creating new knowledge, training future leaders, and contributing to positive environmental and social change from the local to the global scale. As an extra-departmental unit within the Faculty of Arts & Science, our faculty are commonly cross-appointed with other departments and units at the University of Toronto. We offer undergraduate programs in Environmental Science and Environmental Studies, several joint undergraduate programs, a Master of Environment and Sustainability, and two graduate Collaborative Specializations in Environmental Studies and Environment & Health. Our goal is to foster positive change for a sustainable future through transdisciplinary research, teaching, and collaboration.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Curricular Experiential Learning, and dotted line reporting to the Department Manager of the School of the Environment, the Experiential Learning Coordinator will provide high-level support for curricular experiential learning opportunities for the School of the Environment. The incumbent will work with the School and faculty to help plan, develop and implement experiential learning initiatives within academic programs. Working in collaboration with other ELOS staff, they will provide assistance in the areas of partnership and program development, and program administration, contributing to the success and sustainability of experiential learning programming. They will also develop resources to support the expansion of experiential learning across the School and collaborate closely with other experiential learning practitioners across the university.

Note: this is a term position to December 2026.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing plans that support the development of experiential learning opportunities for students
  • Consulting with instructors, administrators and student groups on the development of tailored programming needs
  • Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities
  • Researching and recommending new opportunities for external collaborations and partnerships
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Conducting detailed labour market analysis to inform program and partnership development
  • Delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, or an acceptable combination of education and equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of related, progressively responsible administrative experience, including coordinating experiential learning programs, preferably in a University setting.
  • Experience working in undergraduate student learning and development, student activities/student life, or university teaching.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with partners in public, private, and non-profit sectors on projects related to environment and sustainability, preferably within a post-secondary institution.
  • Experience planning and implementing projects.
  • Experience compiling and analyzing data, written reports and other materials, working on time-sensitive projects and managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience providing administrative support to established processes.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft 365 including Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint. SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, project management and time management skills to cope with multiple projects and events occurring within short and overlapping time periods.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative partnerships.
  • Excellent customer service skills.


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Masters degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of student learning, student development and experiential learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders comfortably and professionally with a customer-service orientation and maintaining confidentiality.
