Description:Sessional Instructional Assistant - BIOC34H3 - Human Physiology II: Lecture - Winter 2025

This course will cover the physiology of the human respiratory, cardiovascular, renal and digestive systems. Topics include cardiac function, ECG, blood flow/pressure regulation, pulmonary mechanics, gas transfer and transport, the control of breathing, sleep-related breathing disorders, kidney function, ion regulation, water balance, acid-base balance and digestive function/regulation. Students will complete a series of computer-simulated laboratory exercises on their own time.

Minimum Qualifications

Includes: ability, academic qualifications, suitability for the position and appropriate background in the subject/specialty. Strong background in mammalian physiology required.

Relevant Criterion

Previous experience is the more relevant criterion than the need to acquire experience in respect of this posted position.

Duties

Duties for the position may vary and include: preparation for in person classes on the UTSC campus, invigilating and marking. Specific duties are defined in the Description of Duties and Allocation of Hours form by the instructor in charge of the course. Please note duties are performed in person at the UTSC campus.

This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement. It is understood that some announcements of vacancies are tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolment.

Salary: $52.26/hour, plus 4% vacation pay. Should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
