Your opportunity:
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Dental Technical Services, provides dental
laboratory services to all undergraduate and graduate students and performs some or all of the
dental laboratory procedures as defined in the Dental Technology Act, 1991 and Regulations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing, modifying and fabricating dental appliances from approved prescriptions
- Troubleshooting and repairing dental appliances
- Applying established standards from the College of Dental Technologist of Ontario when designing, fabricating, modifying dental appliances.
- Carving models according to precise specifications
- Providing detailed information to students regarding dental technical laboratory procedures
- Maintaining sustained care and attention during the work period, impact extends beyond immediate work area; responsible for things that may cut, crush, blind, or burn
- Providing orientation to others on lab equipment, working procedures and practices
Essential Qualifications:
- Advanced College Diploma (3 years) in Dental Technology Program or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years of recent and relevant experience in dental technical laboratory services.
- Experience with denture repair and reline.
- Experience working with dentures, set up, processing and finishing.
- Skilled in all aspects of lab work using current dental technology.
- Good computer skills.
- Excellent manual dexterity.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Assets (Nonessential):
- Experience working in a dental teaching institution.
- Able to work effectively with dental students and academic staff.
- Able to work independently, in close association and cooperation with others.
- Familiarity with Axium.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 10 -- $70,844. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $90,595. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
