About us:

Strategic Enrolment Management at the University of Toronto manages the University’s administration of government financial aid and awards programs, including the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP), as well as the awarding of funds for the University of Toronto Advanced Planning for Students (UTAPS) program, the National Scholarship Program, and other major financial aid programs and awards.

Your opportunity:

Under general supervision of the Associate Director, University Awards, the incumbent participates in the development, improvement, and implementation of administrative processes and procedures for the University’s major awards programs, including the National Scholarship. This includes determining eligibility, communicating with applicants, high schools and the public. It also includes supporting the work of the Selection Committees and working with senior divisional representatives to coordinate candidate selection. The incumbent will also be responsible for documenting and keeping current all administrative processes and procedures, working with IT staff to develop and maintain the online application process for the National Scholarship Program.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing plans for awards programs and related objectives
  • Providing advice to committees regarding financial awards allotments
  • Tracking and monitoring distribution of awards
  • Disseminating information regarding the disbursement of awards; Generating standard reports on awards
  • Checking that applicants meet the requirements outlined in the awards criteria
  • Analyzing complex statistical reports and/or financial information for management decision-making
  • Analyzing processes and recommending changes for more efficient coordination of operations
  • Responding to service requests in a timely fashion

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum four (4) years related experience
  • Experience with the university and with education systems worldwide, admissions policies and requirements for all undergraduate programs, university awards policies
  • Demonstrated experience providing academic and financial counselling to students in a post secondary environment
  • Extensive customer service experience
  • Demonstrated skills and experience using data management systems, business intelligence cubes, ROSI or similar student information systems
  • Superior oral and written communication skills; Excellent interpersonal, organizational, customer service, problem solving, and analytical skills; Proven ability to process new ideas, procedures and systems quickly and accurately
  • Proven ability to effectively use data to analyze, interpret and to make recommendation to senior staff about awards and admissions guidelines, procedures and systems; Proven ability to analyze, interpret and apply complex rules, guidelines and procedures
  • Ability to exercise tact, judgment, discretion, accuracy, adaptability, and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines; Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Familiarity with policies and regulations of government financial aid programs is preferred
  • Familiarity with University of Toronto awards programs is preferred
