Your Opportunity:

Do you have an in-depth understanding of data-driven social media strategy and practice and a high degree of political acuity and judgment? Strong leadership capabilities, superb organizational and analytical skills and keen attention to detail? The ability to coordinate efforts across a variety of teams, manage conflicting priorities, and deadlines? Do you have demonstrated experience advising senior leaders on matters of significance in real-time?

In the newly created role of digital engagement manager at UTC:

  • You will directly manage UTC’s social media team and work collaboratively across teams to drive the production of social media assets for U of T’s core channels. You will develop and maintain effective project management processes using digital tools; ensure strategy and workflow are coordinated and aligned across multiple teams. You will help enhance the quality of social media content on key platforms and ensure digital engagement is consistently prioritized and aligned across teams.
  • You will collaborate with colleagues to develop, execute, analyze and report on data-driven digital strategies and tactics to promote, enhance and protect the reputation of the university.
  • You will manage social listening activities for reputation and issues management using in-platform searches and tools and advise UTC leadership on sentiment among target audiences. You will also provide critical support for leadership on risk and issues management, including after-hours assistance and expertise as needed in urgent and crisis situations.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, communications or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in digital media, content and channel strategy.
  • Experience in developing and implementing digital engagement strategies in the higher education sector is an asset.
  • Experience with project management and leading efforts to enhance project management processes, including the effective use of tools such as Meltwater, Hootsuite, Sprout Social or other social media tools, Photoshop, Asana and Sharepoint.

Skills:

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to translate business requirements and stakeholder needs into work plans and practical solutions.
  • The ability to forge excellent relationships with leaders to deliver strategic outcomes.
  • Strong attention to detail, superb organizational and excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to coordinate efforts across a variety of teams.
  • Working knowledge of Powerpoint, Excel, Word. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills; effective problem solving.

Other:

  • High degree of political acuity and judgment.
  • Ability to deal with senior University leaders and various University stakeholders in a manner which facilitates cooperation and consensus building.
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative, discretion, and tact.
  • Ability to work under pressure; ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • Superior organizational skills in planning, project management and task coordination.
  • Flexibility and problem-solver orientation; strong leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to influence without authority.
