Your opportunity:
The Medical Radiation Sciences (MRS) Program is a collaborative degree/diploma program in Medical Radiation Sciences between the University of Toronto (U of T) and The Michener Institute for Education at UHN (Michener). The program is responsible for the education of radiological technologists, nuclear medicine and molecular imaging technologists, and radiation therapists. The Department of Radiation Oncology in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto has academic oversight of the program.
As the first degree granting program for Medical Radiation Technologists in Canada, the MRS Program graduates approximately 90 students annually. Delivered over eight consecutive semesters the program consists of didactic, simulation and clinical education. The curriculum balances core, foundational and stream specific didactic courses with clinical practice activities at over 40 leading academic health sciences centres, hospitals and community affiliates throughout the province of Ontario.
As Program Manager, Medical Radiation Sciences Program, you will play a key role in supporting the overall academic mission of the program, our program operations and administration. Using your exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, you will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and oversee the day-to-day operations of the undergraduate MRS program, ensuring effective delivery of program support services. You will leverage your knowledge of curriculum development and accreditation processes to advise instructors on strategies for curriculum development and delivery, participate on committees and plan and implement accreditation reviews and audits. Drawing on your financial planning skills, you will plan and estimate financial resources required for the MRS program.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing day-to-day operational needs and educational requirements of programs for the department
- Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
- Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
- Planning components of educational programs and/or course design, making recommendations for student program enhancement to advance program objectives
- Researching and identifying opportunities for collaboration and project initiatives- delivering presentations to promote educational programs and opportunities
- Planning and implementing workflow for initiatives and projects
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences, or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum five (5) years of related administrative experience in a university, teaching hospital or comparable environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine and its community partners, including application of its policies and procedures
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with education program management and curriculum development by developing project plans and using data-driven analysis and reporting
- Experience advising on the development and delivery of curriculum and evaluation of course and training materials
- Demonstrated experience in planning and implementation of accreditation reviews and audits
- Experience with planning and estimating financial resources for programming, including overseeing space and resources, making small purchases andhandling event related expenses
- Experience with directing students towards resources for financial aid such as awards and bursaries, advising students on program and course requirements, and assessing qualifications for admissions applications
- Experience with program evaluation, including the analysis of student learning outcomes to inform future planning and improve program effectiveness
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, learning management systems, content management systems and survey tools
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities within a complex environment
- Strong ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to actively seek innovative ways to enhance and improve program curriculum, delivery, and develop strategies to improve the student experience
- Strong communication skills, including exceptional presentation and writing skills; ability to prepare presentations, reports and correspondence
- Excellent organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills
